Upgrading Your MCSE Certification on Windows Server 2003
You have your MCSE on Windows Server 2003, and you want to upgrade to Windows Server 2008. The first thing to remember is that this is a series of new certifications and, while there is an upgrade path, you are not earning an MCSA or MCSE on Windows Server 2008. Rather, you will earn a MCTS or MCITP on Windows Server 2008. Also remember that the era of the MCSA/MCSE certifications has ended – it is now MCTS and MCITP (and others beyond the scope intended here), and they have an entirely different focus.
The Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS) is concerned with and focused on a deep understanding and use of a specific Microsoft product. The MCITP, on the other hand, represents a broader view of a series of products or integrated products, and it is concerned with planning and developing of the network architecture and design. The important thing to remember is that the MCTS is not
a prerequisite for the MCITP,
per se. In other words, you earn the MCTS de facto by simply passing the required tests for MCITP. You will earn the MCTS on several products if your goal is to earn the MCITP Server Administrator or Enterprise
Administrator on Windows Server 2008.
There are two MCITP tracks available for Windows Server 2008, the MCITP: Server Administrator or the MCITP: Enterprise Administrator (doesn’t mean you can’t get both; they are two separate certifications with different requirements and target audiences). Regardless of which track you
wish to pursue, you will need to take the 70-649 TS: Upgrading your MCSE on Windows Server 2003 to Windows Server 2008,
Technology Specialist exam. Passing this exam will earn you the: MCTS: Windows Server 2008 Active Directory, Configuration (equivalent to the 70-640 exam), the MCTS: Windows Server 2008 Network Infrastructure Configuration (equivalent to the 70-642 exam), and the MCTS: Window Server 2008
Application Infrastructure Configuration (equivalent to the 70-643 exam). One thing to keep in mind is that if you take and pass the 70-649 test, you also earn the same MCTS certifications that you would have earned by just taking the 70-648 exam.
Now that you have the 70-649 exam, you can decide which of the
MCITP tracks you
wish to pursue. If you want to earn the MCITP: Server Administrator, then you will need to pass the 70-646 Pro: Windows Server 2008, Server Administrator exam. If, on the other hand, you are interested in the MCITP: Enterprise Administrator, you still need to take the 70-649 TS: Upgrading your MCSE on Windows Server 2003 to Windows Server 2008, Technology Specialist, but in addition, you
will also need to take two other tests (for a total of 3 tests).
You can take either the 70-620: TS Microsoft Windows Vista,
Configuring OR70-624 TS: Deploying and Maintaining Windows Vista Client and 2007 Microsoft Office System Desktop (your choice here, but one of the two is required). The last test you need to take is the 70-647: Windows Server 2008, Enterprise Administrator. Once
you have taken all three – congratulations, you are now a MCITP: Enterprise Administrator. The value of certifications cannot be over-emphasized. A certification clearly demonstrates that an individual has met certain requirements and has a specific level of knowledge and skills. There have been significant changes to the Microsoft Certification programs in response to new technologies,
and pressure from companies and individuals. Introducing a differentiation of the ubiquitous MCP
Certification (take a test, any test, and you are an MCP) and the MCTS (product-specific) provides a qualitative approach to certification and applicability to job roles. The new MCITP certification relates more closely to the real job roles of IT professionals as it
can cover multiple disciplines. Understanding the upgrade path from Windows Server 2003 to 2008 can be daunting. There are several exams that can be used for different certifications and just understanding the difference
between the MCTS and the MCITP can be challenging, but very rewarding in the end.
Conclusion
There must be value and worth in earning a Microsoft certification if the program has lasted over 16 years and granted over 2 million certifications. Our old friend the MCSE is soon to phased
out. Those who hold this cherished certification should be proud of their achievements, and those who are on the path to earn the new
MCITP will continue the Microsoft Certification tradition established in 1992. While the new certifications have different names and professional focus, they will still command respect within the IT community. Their relevancy is assured by tying the MCTS to a particular product and demanding a deep knowledge of this product. The MCITP assures that anyone possessing this certification has a breadth of knowledge on various products and is concerned with the network architecture and design. These are exciting times in the Microsoft Certification world.

Upgrading Your MCSA on Windows Server 2003 Certification
Upgrading Your MCSA on Windows Server 2003 Certification
Let us say that you have your MCSA on Windows Server 2003, and you want to
upgrade your certification to Windows Server 2008, or you are not certified at
all on Windows Server 2003 and want to earn your
MCTS on Windows Server 2008. The first
thing to remember is that this is a series of new certifications and while there
is an upgrade path from Server 2003 to Server 2008, you are NOT earning an MCSE
on Windows Server 2008,
rather an MCTS or MCITP on windows
Server 2008. Also remember that the era of the
MCSA/MCSE certifications has ended –
it is now MCTS and MCITP (and others beyond the scope covered here) and have an
entirely different focus.

The Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS) has a different focus
then the Microsoft Certified Information Technology Professional (MCITP), and
the former is not a prerequisite for the latter (nor is it a “lesser”
certification!). The MCTS certification
is aimed at IT professionals who work with a specific Microsoft product or
platform. An IT pro who has earned an MCTS is expected to possess depth and
breadth of knowledge
and skills on a particular product or platform. They are expected to manage and
maintain the product or platform on a daily basis. They are also more concerned
with the day-to-day operations and short-term planning rather than long-term
planning and design and design.
There are three MCTS tracks available on Windows Server 2008:
MCTS: Windows Server 2008 Active Directory Configuration; MCTS: Windows Server
2008 Network Infrastructure Configuration, and MCTS: Windows Server 2008
Applications Infrastructure Configuration. You can take each of the tests
individually, or you can take the upgrade path by taking only one test. The
easiest route to upgrade your certification, if you are already an MCSA on
Windows Server 2003, is take (and pass, of course) the 70-648 TS: Upgrading your
MCSA on Windows Server 2003 to Windows Server 2008, Technology Specialist exam.
Passing this exam will earn you the MCTS: Windows Server 2008 Active Directory,
Configuration (equivalent to the 70-640 exam) and the MCTS: Windows Server 2008
Network Infrastructure Configuration (equivalent to the 70-642 exam). The last
of the three MCTS certifications – MCTS: Window Server 2008 Application
Infrastructure Configuration – is earned by passing the 70-643 exam. The other
part to earning your MCTS on any one of the three paths is to pass the 70-646
exam Windows Server 2008, Server Administrator.

Useful habits to pass Microsoft exams:-
Microsoft learning suggest you must have one year experience working on platforms, on which you have planned to take exams .. you must have some practical knowledge.. well... in contrast,,
In companies, you won't get hold on those operating system until you have certification
or
some experience
or
any reference (for that post)
But lots of pals study & pass microsoft exams without industrial experience . I have passed microsoft exams & even you can pass these microsoft exams easily! if you are really interested in computer & network technologies..
Here are few habits which you can adopt too like Microsoft professionals, that useful to get done Microsoft exams certifications:
* Experiments, practicals, installations:
Do every installation manually..
especially you are new to It field, (anybody who is concern to technologies won't afraid to do anything with comp... )
but if you are new to IT field & hesitate to do something unknown... experiment all the options & gain experience.
You do all games installations & all.. even this is same as to follow onscreen instructions..
In fact,
Microsoft exams based on these options, setting etc. So try each & every option you can.. you know..
you understand whats written on screen...
you can understand whats written message on screen..
&
we are not so dump that we can make serious problem to our hardware..
&
some software crashes we can handle them..
i mean.. we can troubleshoot them.. reinstall them..
&
that's what Microsoft professionals job 'to troubleshoot'...
Reading " Microsoft help" :
Any Microsoft's operating system's help menu is a treasures of knowledge..
If you have ever checked & read the Microsoft's help then you will know.. after all which exams you are giving about man!!! Microsoft Operating system's !!!
just go to help & search FDISK - you will get detail knowledge .. all hard disk types, different command options.. everything.. basic knowledge you need to know.. you will get it from there.. & even more than just basic knowledge..
when i was working in It firm I was addicted to read XP help .. & then somehow i connected to these microsoft exams.. I felt all these microsoft exams easy.. cause all stuff about operating systems require to learn for microsoft exams, i had already covered in reading Xp help menu..
Troubleshooting & computer maintenance:
Solve your & any body's PC problem..
not only software problem but hardware too.. search for help on net to solve those problems... after all you want to be Microsoft professionals.
It is useful in Industrial job but is it useful for microsoft exams ?
of-course,
If you have seen Microsoft exams result report... in some old reports you will find microsoft's testing method on different different levels.. such as maintenance, troubleshooting, its services, features etc. on how much you know..
Do as directed:
whenever you read microsoft exams study guide or books.. Do as suggested.. Do whatever you are learning from the book.. practice all options mention in the book..
read all kinds of stuff.. & select which is the best for you... & revise it..
Do not compare yourself with anybody..
follow your own path...
Select training method which is best for you.. not what other select...
select exam which are in your interests.. not what other choose.
Plan your own path & stick to it..
read other people stories & know that even you can do it in your own way...
there are cheating ways that people use to pass exams..
but it's really not worth to loose your integrity & untrust yourself for these simple microsoft exams.. which you can easily passed with little effort & planning. Just do not waist chance to be proud of yourself by giving Microsoft exams yourself.....
Remember thousands of people pass Microsoft exams & become Microsoft certified, with some dedication & simple efforts.. there is no reason, that you can't pass microsoft exams.

Vista Credential Inching Toward 20K
According to numbers posted on the Microsoft MCP Web site early this month, 18,869 IT pros worldwide passed an exam to obtain the MCTS: Windows Vista -- Configuration. The next big gainer? The MCTS: .NET Framework 2.0 Web Applications certification, at 266 fewer holders than the Vista title.
The MCTS: Vista -- Configuration title has been available since January 2007, which is when Microsoft released the 70-620 TS: Vista -- Configuration exam. The MCTS: .NET Web Apps title had a headstart, becoming a valid credential when one of the two required exams finally saw daylight back in March 2006 (in this case, Exam 70-536 TS: .NET Framework 2.0 -- Application Development Foundation; the other exam that makes up the title is 70-528 TS: .NET Framework 2.0 -- Web-Based Client Development, which was released two months earlier).
Topping the list of new-generation titles is MCTS: SQL Server 2005, with 27,526 holders, but it was among the first of the new-generation MCP titles to be released.
The MCTS credentials for Windows Server 2008, which were just released a few weeks ago, have already been issued to around 6,000 and 7,000 MCPs worldwide for the three credentials. The MCTS: SharePoint Server -- Configuration title comes in at 5,687.
According to the posting, 2.25 million MCPs around the world have earned at least a basic Microsoft certification. Click here to view the list.

Microsoft Windows Server 2008 Certifications Announced
Microsoft has announced the new Windows Server 2008 certification tracks, and
there are major changes from past Windows certification tracks. The MCSE is no
more; the multi-exam tracks are both Microsoft Certified IT Professional
MCITP certifications. The name may not
be the same, but just as the MCSE required successful candidates to pass
multiple exams, so does the MCITP.
There are two MCITP tracks to choose from. The larger of the two is the Windows
Server 2008 Enterprise Administrator certification, which requires the Microsoft
certification candidate to pass five exams. There's not a lot of choice for this
certification, because successful Enterprise Administrators will be required to
pass the following exams:
Configuring Windows Server 2008 Active Directory (70-640)
Configuring Windows Server 2008 Network Infrastructure (70-642)
Configuring Windows Server 2008 Applications Platform (70-643)
Windows Server 2008 Enterprise Administrator Exam
Along with those four requirements, you'll need to pass either the 70-620 or
70-624 Windows Vista Client exam.
There's also a Windows Server 2008 Administrator certification, which will
require you to pass the Active Directory, Network Infrastructure, and the 70-646
Windows 2008 Server Administrator Exam.
Microsoft is offering single-exam certifications as well. The Server 2008
program will certify you as a Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS)
for a particular skill by passing the Server 2008 Active Directory, Network
Infrastructure, or Application Platforms exams.
So even though the names have changed, Microsoft is offering both single-exam
and multiple-exam Server 2008 tracks. Be sure to visit Microsoft's website to
get the latest information on release dates and changes to the
MCITP and
MCTS programs! Server 2008 may not
sound like something you need to be planning for, but we thought the same thing
about 2000 and 2003, didn’t we?
